A tiny footprint that reclaims the desk
A pair of over-ear headphones parked on the desk eats a surprising amount of the working zone — a stand trades that sprawl for a 15×15 cm base and about 30 cm of vertical space nobody was using. It is the smallest footprint in the gear list and the one most likely to be placed badly.
Stand, hook, or hanger
A weighted stand needs a ~15×15 cm base but can go anywhere. An under-desk hook costs no desktop at all and is the right answer on a cramped desk, though the cups sit where your knee wants to be. A monitor-mounted hanger clips onto the panel and uses space that is genuinely dead — the best of the three if your monitor is on an arm.
Where to put it
Back corner, on the side away from your mouse. The two things it must clear are the swing of a monitor arm and the far end of your mouse sweep — both are motion, not footprint, which is why a stand that “fits” can still be in the way. Rotate the stand on the grid and slide it until nothing crosses its column.
Cable and comfort
If the headphones are wired, the stand should sit on the same side as the port so the cable does not cross the mouse zone. Hang the headband over the widest part of the arm rather than a narrow hook to spread the load — a small habit that keeps the padding from creasing over the years.
